Hi there! I'm so glad that you made it here to my brand new website! Since this is the very first post on the blog, I would like to introduce myself to you: my name is Mai, I am a decade-long New Yorker, a designer, the woman behind MAIA (my nickname btw), and a mother of a 2yo boy Sage. As soon as I set my foot in fashion years ago, I became skeptical about what's behind the gorgeous industry - very low payments that manufacturers receive, cheap clothes that are not made to last, trends that come and go, and therefore the amount of landfill that it creates. I took a pause. Thought about this. And decided to speak up with the skills I have. Sustainability x Fun Design![]() Photo by RhondaK Native Florida Folk Artist on Unsplash Our clothes and goods are made in small batches and it is very hard, if not impossible, to find the exact same piece (unless people copy haha!) As I mention on the About page, sustainability is not necessarily equal to plain looking goods. A true sustainable consumption exists when you love something so much that you use it over years instead of buying new pieces. And it looks like in order for someone to hold on to something for a long time, it needs some special values as well as good quality. It is human touch/stories for some people, it is easy-care material for others. And it is individuality and bold style to many, all of which is why I started MAIA.
Every purchase you make is a vote to the kind of future you want to live in. I hope you, smart and conscious readers, purchase what you truly love, love what you purchase, take good care of it, then do you and be you! It would be a pleasure if MAIA can be a part of your honest and sustainable lifestyle. And it means A LOT if I inspire other talented moms and women to be creative and work from home, especially during this tough time of the pandemic. **And ladies, I hear you. So far I only have few reclaimed denim items. But more will be added soon! Also, I hope to make this blog an informative place to communicate with you about sustainable and healthy living. So, feel free to write comments or DM me please:) Thanks a lot for reading, talk to you soon and stay safe!
